About

The Car Consultants was set up by Edward Hunt.

Edward is currently ranked Number 1 in the UK & Ireland according to the League of True Mechanics having won the National competition & held the title an impressive 3 years running, being crowned number 1 in the 2021, 2022 & 2023 Contests, each time after competing over the course of 5 months against mechanics from all over the UK and Ireland.

Edward is not only the first person ever to win more than once but the first to ever achieve the 'hat trick'
Previous awards include South West of England VW and Audi Apprentice of the year 2005 and Salisbury college Technical Student of the year 2000

Edward is a third generation car mechanic who has always been a car enthusiast from a very young age. He began his professional career in the motor trade as an apprentice technician at a VW main dealer where he completed his training and graduated from the Volkswagen academy top of his class and year before going on to further his education by studying Motor sport engineering at Oxford Brookes University. He gained a wealth of experience within the Volkswagen Audi Group from working mostly at 2 Volkswagen main dealers, a Volkswagen Commercial main dealer and a Seat & Skoda main dealership.

He also spent just under 2 years as a specialist patrol for the AA dealing with breakdowns on all manner of vehicle from mopeds to HGV.

Edd works as a Consultant on an International level trouble shooting complex faults for garages mostly across the United Kingdom but his reputation has spread further afield and has also been called out to jobs as far away as Ireland, Italy and Switzerland.

Edd Hunt The Car Consultant has been nominated for an outstanding contribution to the Motor Industry award and was a finalist for 'UK Independant Garage of the year' 2024

(He is not technically a garage, He's a consultant so had no chance of winning but was made a finalist and they extended the category to include him as a non garage due to the number of garages across the UK who nominated him after he had helped them out with troubleshooting problem jobs!

Hosting the quiz 'Midnight Mastermind'o n BBC Radio 2 with OJ Borg

(After receiving a text from the producer when I was literally on my way into the BBC Building saying the person hosting the quiz had cancelled last minute and would I be able to save the day, step in last minute and host the quiz while I was in the studio. Only had 20 mins to prepare and write the quiz so did the best I could in the time allowed before going live on air)

CAT Awards Independent Garage of the year Finalist 2024

Finalist in the CAT awards for UK Independent garage of the year 2024, I'm not technically a garage, I'm a consultant so had no chance of winning but I was made a finalist and they extended the category to include me as a non garage due to the number of garages across the UK who nominated me after I had helped them out with troubleshooting problem jobs so was an honour to be made a finalist!

When in the Williams F1 base I was able to get a voice note from Alex Albon, the team's number 1 driver moonlighting as a pit lane corresponent for BBC Radio 2 for a feature on the late show called "I'm working late because........"
